Support local? An Organic Touch product line review

Organic Touch was brought to my attention last year when I was in the process of compiling my list of local beauty brands (which I really need to update). I eventually did get my hands on some of their products and managed to chat with the owner of the brand on her inspiration for creating her New Amoebic me line of products. Firstly, I have to commend her on the fact that she grows a lot of her ingredients. This brand for her is a labour of love. Also, I really like her aesthetic. Her branding is simple, sleek and to the point. I received their shampoo, deep conditioner, leave in conditioner and moisturiser.

Shampoo
Key ingredients: Water, Aloe Vera, Burdock root, Plantain, Horsetail extract, Cocoa pods
Consistency: Liquid-y
Scent: Earthy with a hint of mint, not overpowering
Utilisation: I used this shampoo on my hair with varying levels of product build up
Thoughts: I think this is good for persons who don't fancy shampoos that leave your hair feeling squeaky clean. If you don't use heavy products in your hair, then this can effectively cleanse your hair.

Deep conditioner
Key ingredients: Water, Aloe Vera, Hibiscus Extract, Marshmellow Extract, Shea, Mango and Cocoa butters
Consistency: Thick and creamy
Scent: I picked up hints of chocolate and vanilla
Utilisation: I used this as a follow up to the shampoo. I applied it to my hair, donned a shower cap and left it on for about 45 minutes
Thoughts: Okay I love how this product left my hair. It was thick, but easy enough to apply to my hair. I did get some slip, but I honestly wish that I had gotten a bit more. The second time I used it however, I waited until I was almost ready to rinse it out, to detangle, and by then, I had the slip that I needed. Also, I would like a bigger size container.

Leave in conditioner
Key ingredients: Water, Aloe Vera, Glycerine, Castor, Avocado and Hemp Seed oils
Consistency: It is a very creamy liquid
Scent: Somewhat fruity
Utilisation: I used this after I rinsed out the deep conditioner
Thoughts: I really like this leave in. it spread through my hair easily and it did not weigh my hair down. My hair was very soft and manageable and unlike some other leave ins that I have used in the past, this one didn't leave my hair feeling sappy even when I may have gone a tad (just a tad, okay more than a tad) overboard with how much product I put in.

Moisturiser
Key ingredients: Water, Aloe Vera, Glycerine, Shea and Mango Butter
Consistency: It is a bit thicker than the leave in conditioner, but still has a runny consistency
Scent: Fruity with a hint of bubble gum
Utilisation: As part of the instructions, this is to be used after leave in. On some occasions I did that, but on others, I used this as a leave in
Thoughts: This product for me, worked almost h in the same way that the leave in worked This does give my hair the sappy feeling that I mentioned earlier and does weigh my hair down a little more, but the difference in minimal. I reckon for most persons, they can interchange using the leave in and the moisturiser.

Overall, I think that Organic Touch has come out with a decent offering of products for natural hair. My recommendations to them would be to adjust the moisturiser ingredients so that it can then be a more butter/cream ingredient which would be used as a sealant. In speaking with them after I wrote this review, they did disclose that they are introducing new formulas and products to their line. I am definitely looking forward to seeing what else they have in store. If you want to try their products out for yourself, you can get a hold of them on Instagram and on Facebook.
